Important Information for Beginners

⚠️ A Queen Bee Alone Cannot Start a Colony

A queen supplied with a small number of attendant bees is not capable of establishing a functioning colony by herself. To create a productive hive, you will require a nucleus colony (Nuc) containing a laying queen and thousands of worker bees.

If you are new to beekeeping, we recommend purchasing a complete Nucleus Colony rather than a queen alone.

Why Choose Choosup Bees?

At Choosup Bees, we are committed to producing high-quality queens with strong genetics, excellent temperament, and reliable performance. Our breeding programme focuses on:

✅ Healthy, vigorous stock

Every queen is carefully inspected before dispatch to ensure she meets our quality standards.

About the Carniolan Honey Bee

The Carniolan Honey Bee (Apis mellifera carnica) originates from Slovenia and surrounding regions of Central and Eastern Europe. Today, it is one of the most popular honey bee races in the world due to its exceptional combination of productivity and gentle behaviour.

Key Characteristics

🐝 Exceptionally Gentle

Carniolan bees are famous for their calm temperament, making hive inspections easier and more enjoyable.

🌸 Rapid Spring Build-Up

Colonies expand quickly as nectar becomes available, allowing them to take full advantage of early honey flows.

🍯 Excellent Honey Producers

Strong foraging instincts and efficient workforce management help maximise honey yields throughout the season.

❄️ Outstanding Winter Performance

Carniolans naturally reduce colony size during periods of scarcity, conserving stores and overwintering efficiently.

🌿 Efficient Use of Resources

They adjust brood production according to nectar availability, ensuring strong colonies without unnecessary consumption of stores.

🛡️ Good Disease Resistance

Carniolan bees demonstrate natural resilience and maintain healthy, productive colonies when managed correctly.

A Trusted Choice for Modern Beekeepers

Whether you are requeening an existing colony, improving temperament, or increasing productivity, our Carniolan Queens offer a proven combination of gentleness, performance, and reliability.

Order early to secure your preferred dispatch date and avoid seasonal shortages.
